Pastor James E. Moore is the Senior Pastor. He is only the 9th pastor of the church since its establishment in 1869.

Pastor Moore is a native of Sandersville, Georgia and graduate of T.J. Elder High School. He served honorably for 27 years in the United States Marine Corps and retired at the rank of Sergeant Major in May 1996. His last assignment was Marine Corps Recruit Depot Sergeant Major where he was the first African American in the history of the Corps to hold that position. Pastor Moore went on to serve 17 years as the Vice President of the Parris Island Armed Services Bank, Parris Island, South Carolina where his branch was awarded “Bank of the Year” 13 of 17 years.  He serves as a member of the executive board of the Old Ashley Baptist Association, member of the Beaufort County Ministerial Alliance and Chaplain of the Drill Instructors Association. His leadership also spans throughout the community serving as Chairman of the Pathways in STEP, Chairman of the Sheldon Township Community Support Partnership, and Board of Directors for the Drill Instructor Association, Parris Island Museum and Historical Society and the Extra Mile Club.

Pastor Moore is a graduate of the Morris College School of Religion. He has served as Associate Pastor of Central Baptist Church, Beaufort, South Carolina and the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Okinawa, Japan.

 

He is married to Gwendolyn Moore and they have one daughter Jammie K.
